Formed by Charlie Pirie, star of the B.B.C's award winning "The Gamekeeper" documentary series, Atholl Adventures provides a platform from which guests can learn many of the skills associated with the out-door lifestyle.

As Highland Perthshire so readily indicates in its name there is a lot of high ground to negotiate and one of the most exhilarating ways to do it is by abseiling. Over many years our instructors have made numerous descents from many things around the world, oil rigs, tower blocks, cliff faces and even helicopters!
Our team of instructors guarantee to teach you the safest way to descend a vertical drop in the shortest time possible! For the Novice we can provide the first stage in a new experience and for those with a level of expertise we can give you the opportunity to abseil one of the best descents in Britain.
Full instruction, ropes and safety equipment are provided, stout footwear is required. Available for persons 14 years and over. A minimum charge based on 4 people is applied.
Since the dark ages British bowmen have held a fearful reputation, and up until the end of the 16th century archery was a compulsory skill that was practised after Church every Sunday. Some people think that firing an arrow into a butt is an easy thing, however those of us who still regularly practise this art know better. We use 2 types of bow, field sport bows and competition target bows, both draw 32lbs.
For a test of martial skill, dexterity, and a quieter way of hitting a target, Archery is an entertaining way to spend some time. It might not put you in a quiver but our Instructors guarantee to keep you on target. Ranges for tuition are 20 and 30 metres. A minimum charge based on 4 people is applied. The minimum age for participating in archery is 12 years.
You to can be BOB THE BUILDER a new experience for those girls and boys wanting to play with big toys! We have access to JCB's, Tracked Diggers, 4 Wheel Drive Tractors, Dumper Trucks and many more pieces of heavy plant.
You will be taught the finer points of mechanically excavating and moving various loads to and from the site. Our expert team of plant operators would be delighted to show you the ropes and teach you the skills required to operate these machines.
You never know when you may need to use the skills acquired, recommended for the D.I.Y. enthusiasts or persons who have nearly everything. Available to holders of a full driving licence only.
This is a bizzarre and extreme outdoor activity. Atholl Adventures can arrange a totally different day out for you and your party.
The concept of canyoning consists of working your way down a series of rapids, waterfalls, and fast streams from one point to another. The team of experts provide instruction, wet suits, life jackets, and safety equipment to ensure a safe descent of the course.
Persons participating in canyoning have to be reasonably fit, insurance cover is provided.
Set in some of Scotland's most stunning scenery Atholl Adventures provide some of the best Clay Shooting Instruction available.
Experience the various disciplines of Clay Pigeon Shooting under expert tuition from Charlie Pirie, (star of "The Gamekeeper" a BBC Documentary), and his team. Whether a novice or "experienced shot" you will enjoy the disciplines of "overhead", "down the line", "springing teal", "high pheasant", and "driven grouse". Tuition in the use of 12 and 20 bore Shotguns, with clays and cartridges, is provided.
Charlie's team of experienced instructors consist of retired and working Game Keepers all of whom are regarded as being excellent shots.
Individual as well as group tuition can be given by our qualified instructors who will ensure that you will be regularly hitting clays by the end of your session. For those wishing to progress to game shooting this to can be arranged. A minimum charge, based on 5 people is applied.
A relatively new and demanding experience, not for the faint hearted! Cliff Jumping, as the title indicates, consists of jumping off a cliff into a deep pool of water. Wet suits and life jackets are provided and full safety measures and instruction are undertaken.
The initial jump starts at about 10ft and goes to a jump of 50ft, a most exhilarating experience and a memorable way to descend into water.
There is an abundance of quality fishing in highland Perthshire with most native species represented. Whether, Salmon, Trout, or Coarse fishing we can arrange for the sport to be undertaken within the local area, depending on seasons.
Tackle hire and the relevant permits can be arranged. We have on hand a team of expert instructors who can provide tuition in both double handed Salmon Fly Casting and single handed Trout Fly Casting. Ghillies can be provided if required.
Prices vary depending on time of year (for Salmon), type of fishing required, permit prices and tackle hire.
Over his many years as a Game keeper Charlie Pirie has dealt with many of the Estates in Perthshire and has built up numerous contacts which have enabled Atholl Adventures to arrange for you some of the best game shooting experiences available in the area.
Atholl Adventures has access to numerous Highland and Lowland Estates for seasonal game shooting consisting of: Red, Roe, & Fallow Deer Stalking, Grouse, Partridge, Pheasant, Duck and Pigeon Shooting.
Expert instruction, guides and ghillies can be provided, and for foreign visitors the relevant firearms permits can be arranged.
Our resident guides are led by a former Mountain Search and Rescue Team Leader. They have an extensive knowledge of local history, and native flora and fauna.
Whether out for a "stroll" or "bagging a Munro" they are the essential "local guide". Instruction for map reading and orienteering can also be provided.
It is essential that the correct clothing and footwear are brought for the more challenging hills. The price varies for group size and duration of the walk.
Learn how to live of the land and survive.
Our qualified team of ex-Special Forces Instructors can teach you rudimentary survival techniques to allow you to survive in the wild. Learn how to survive with next to nothing, to eat and create shelters in a week-end where your best friend is yourself.
1 or 2 day courses held in the heart of Scotland.
The ideal fun event for corporate and group entertainment, a "pick and mix" of small events for you and your group to participate in. You will nominate the games chieftain and be "piped" to the arena, you will then compete in 6 events chosen from: Horse Shoes, Boule, Giant Bar Skittles, Hammer Throwing, Clay Catching, Haggis Rolling, Weight for Distance, Welly Boot Throwing, The final event of all games is a Tug of War. Team sizes may vary between 4 to 8 people. A minimum number of 16 people are required to participate and a winning team prize will be presented.
Where other activities have been selected individual games can be requested to keep your party entertained. They should be specified on the booking form under special requirements.
Our resident Off Road Driving Instructors have spent many years driving a selection of 4 X 4 vehicles on all types of terrain, in all conditions.
Whether negotiating steep slopes, driving in snow, fording streams or crossing marshy ground our instructors will be able to teach you how to approach any given problem. Our 4 X 4 course, set in beautiful highland scenery is quite demanding and was designed by a leading 4 X 4 manufacturer to cover all aspects of off road driving.
With instruction our basic course takes approximately 3 hours to complete. Minimum group requirement 4 persons.
A day out at the races, enjoy our version of horse racing. A full race card of 6 races is provided. You and your guests will compete in the wackiest horse races in Scotland, a cross between It's A Knockout and the Grand National.
You will from your guests form teams of 3 consisting of a jockey and pantomime horse, name your mount, even become an owner, and place your bets. Depending on your horses fitness and the jockey's ability to negotiate the course you could be in the winners enclosure!
A Totalisator is operated and a percentage of the Pot in each race is donated by your organisation to a charity which you have nominated. There are 6 races with a minimum of 4 runners and a maximum of 6 runners in each race. Side shows, food and beverages can be provided to give the event a carnival feeling.
A must for those people not wishing to be taken to seriously! Minimum number of participating racers required 72. Price depends on numbers involved and other activities requested. Available only between April and September.
Atholl Adventures can arrange for you and your party to undertake white water rafting on the River Tay. Whilst not the most difficult river to negotiate there are a number of rapids and rough water sections to entertain people who are wanting to do something different.
Set in superb scenery a basic trip takes ½ a day and wet suits, life jackets, instruction and insurance are provided.
The team of experienced instructors have rafted many of the more difficult rivers in the world and will enjoy regaling you with stories of the more dangerous rivers that they have negotiated!
Atholl Adventures can arrange for guided photo safaris set in the stunning countryside of Highland Perthshire.
Opportunities abound to view the native flora and fauna of Perthshire in comfort being chauffeured in off road vehicles by experienced guides. They will, weather permitting, be able to locate many interesting animals and birds resident in the area.
The safaris can even stop at some very scenic locations for refreshments high on the hills.
